MasterCraft Kids is an online learning resource that seeks to provide fundamental filmmaking and animation skills to children aged 7-12.
The course will take a minimum of four weeks to complete, as kids journey through the workflow of creating professional and fun video content, at a pace that’s suitable to them. Using a tablet or smartphone (IOS or Android) and readily available (free) apps, they will learn the basics of storytelling, cinematography, editing, stop motion and animation, which will culminate in a one minute film of their creation. The course seeks to not only to teach the technical aspects of filmmaking, but also provide a strong foundation of storytelling technique that will enable young minds to express their view of the world. The course is structured so that minimal instruction will be required from a parent/guardian.
Created by award-winning filmmaker Luca Fox, who has worked professionally in the film industry with high-profile clients such as Kasey Chambers and Prince Ea, and also taught film and multimedia studies to students at Shearwater Steiner in Mullumbimby. He graduated with a Bachelor of Film in 2018, and has since written, filmed, edited and produced several award-winning short films both domestically and internationally.
